Each year, as part of Glastonbury festival, Greenpeace construct their own village with stages hosting music and events, a climbing wall, and a skate park. We collaborated with Greenpeace to design the layout for the field.
The layout is shaped around a tree which lies in the centre of the field. Structures and hoarding create a boundary between festival and back of house. A level board-walk connects each of the structures and provides an accessible walkway.
Part of the brief was to design the showers and cafe using standardised materials for quick construction, reduce wastage, and for reuse at future festivals. Full sheets of plywood are used to build cassettes that can be easily fixed together and dismounted for future use. The exposed plywood faces can then be painted on for artwork and protest banners.
